The house is dedicated to the Thirteen Assyrian Fathers, missionary monks whose names are tied to Zedazeni, Shiomghvime and Davit Gareji. They are venerated all over Georgia, yet churches of their common name are few.
The monastery stands near Dzveli Kanda village, about a kilometre and four hundred metres from the Kanda church and a kilometre and a half from the unnamed village church. The Tsikhisdziri locality with its old churches lies some three kilometres away.
The place is well kept and better arranged than its neighbours: you can drive up to the gates, the entrance and the car park are laid out so that a wheelchair can get in, and there is a toilet. The rules are monastic: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet, photography by permission.
