Avranlo Megalithic Fortress in Georgia: 1st Century

This place definitely deserves a place on the list of "most beautiful places in Georgia," if only because it's not easy to find older landmarks.
Georgia's landmarks vary widely in age, but some stand out.
Avranlo Fortress was built in the 1st century. Its location was clearly chosen deliberately, as it made it a strategically important landmark. Avranlo is built in such a way that it blocks a narrow passage between the mountains, which is the only way to get from the village of Trialeti to the Borjomi Gorge.
The fortress consists of three terraces. The first is located at the foot of a steep cliff, the second runs along the mountainside itself, and the third passes through a clearing at the top of the Ktsia Canyon.
The citadel itself and a number of outbuildings are located within the terraces of the fortress. All are connected by narrow passages.
The walls here are impressively thick, reaching as much as 3-4 meters in places.
A former prison with living quarters remains on the grounds. A church was built on the first terrace, near the riverbank, in the Middle Ages. The site is very picturesque.
The complex also includes a cave carved into a steep cliff. In fact, this is not just a cave, but an entire complex called the Abibo Monastery.
Many archaeological artifacts have been found in this area. For example, fragments of ceramic pottery characteristic of the Mtkvari-Araks culture were found near this complex. In addition, the remains of dwellings from the Late Bronze and Early Iron Periods were found.
Thus, it can be concluded that the area around the Avranlo fortress was actively developed and inhabited until the 2nd century.

ربما كان المنظر من الأعلى هو الأكثر إبهارًا، حيث تتناغم الطبيعة مع التاريخ. لكن، هل هناك أماكن أخرى في جورجيا تحمل مثل هذا السحر؟
Пусть и так, если бы хоть кто-то смог передать ту атмосферу, которую ты ощущаешь, когда хаджишь по этому историческому наследию. Надеюсь, люди не потеряют интерес к этим местам и будут бережно к ним относиться. Черт, ведь так важно передать это чувство новым поколениям.
Подумать только, первый век! Крепость, построенная в самом начале нашей цивилизации, она прожила целую эпоху. Удивительно.
