The state academic theatre is a significant cultural landmark in Georgia, symbolizing the country's rich theatrical heritage. Situated on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, it merges historical importance with artistic excellence, making it an impressive venue for performances and cultural events.

The architecture is both elegant and striking, showcasing a blend of classic and oriental styles that capture the artistic essence of old Tbilisi. The interior is beautifully adorned, with a grand hall that exudes sophistication, creating a refined atmosphere for visitors. The exceptional acoustics and stage design enhance the overall experience, allowing audiences to appreciate every nuance of the performances.

More than just a beautiful building, this theatre holds deep cultural significance. It has been a stage for some of Georgia’s most talented actors, directors, and musicians over the years. The theatre embodies creativity and national identity, showcasing the lasting value of Georgian art. Attending an event here is not just entertaining; it is also a culturally enriching experience, as the venue carries a profound historical and emotional weight.

The theatre is truly amazing just as it is. The performance featured national dance and singing, showcasing polyphonic music that is recognized as UNESCO heritage, and it really resonates with the soul. Everyone in the audience, including myself, thoroughly enjoyed it.

On May 1, 2026, we attended a concert there featuring Tarja Turunen. The building, the hall, and the sound were all incredible! We had seats on the 3rd floor and were glad to have brought binoculars, which made it easier to enjoy the performance. Afterward, we walked down the stairs and noticed some beautiful old frescoes on the walls.

Everything was quite good, but there are two major issues that really affected my experience: the sound quality and the ventilation. During yesterday's concert with MARIO STEFANO PIETRODARCHI, even though I was seated in row 14, the sound felt muted and lacking power; it didn't envelop you as it should have. It seemed like the sound was just coming from the stage, not around us.

As for the ventilation, the place was packed, and it felt stifling. I noticed they turned it on a little, but it was too late, and it seemed to be switched off again. It became unbearably hot, and my nose dried out within an hour. Plus, many attendees wore strong perfume, which made it even harder to stay. I was ready to leave after an hour, but the concert lasted just over two.
