The Tausa church in Tashiskari is the church of a village right at the entrance to the Borjomi gorge. Behind the local name Tausa stands a church of St. George: folk names of churches in Kartli live for centuries alongside the official dedications, and this is just such a case: in local speech Tausa sounds more often than the official name.
Tashiskari stands on the threshold of the resort valley, and the Tausa church conveniently opens the Borjomi route: five minutes off the highway and village quiet instead of resort bustle. On the other side of the village stands the Chikori church: two stops fold into a short circle.
One enters freely, with the usual courtesy of a working church: modest dress, a quiet voice, respect for a service if one is under way. On Giorgoba the whole village gathers by the church.
