The church is known simply by the name of the village: Tsakhi. No dedication has survived, which is ordinary in the mountains of Racha where a parish is small and the memory of its patronal feast lives only in oral tradition.
Tsakhi lies in the mountains where three districts meet, about eighteen kilometres from Tsageri, Ambrolauri and Tkibuli alike. The church of the Ascension at Ghvardia stands about two kilometres away, the church of St. George at Zeda Sairme five, the ruins of Zogishi seven. The roads here run along the ridges and the neighbouring villages are separated by gorges.
The place is remote, and it is better to come in the warmer months with time to spare. The church is a village one and services are not held every day. Dress modestly, keep quiet inside, leave offerings untouched. Petrol stations and shops are few on this stretch.
