The church is dedicated to St. George, and both names of the place agree on that dedication. In Lechkhumi churches of St. George were raised in villages and at the gates to the pastures alike: George is venerated here as the patron of shepherds.
Nakuraleshi lies eleven kilometres from Tsageri, in the mountains above the Tskhenistskali valley. There are few neighbours nearby: the church of Kveda Aghvi stands about five kilometres away, the church of Tsagera six, the place of Gudulashi six and a half. The slopes here are wooded and the villages few.
The road is a mountain one, the last kilometres unpaved and soft in the rain. The parish is a village one, services are not held every day, and it is easier to get inside when someone is about. Dress modestly, keep quiet inside, leave offerings untouched. Summer in the hills is cooler than in the valley.
