Chumlaki has two Marian churches, and the easiest way to tell them apart is by location: this one stands in the central part of the village, the other almost a kilometre to the north-east.
Duplication of dedications within one village occurs regularly in Kakheti and usually means the parishes formed at different ends. Mariamoba, the Dormition, at the end of August is the main day for both. If you are planning a circuit of all seven Chumlaki churches, this one fits neatly into the middle of the route.
About two and a half kilometres separate the northern pair from the southern buildings of the village, so the full circle is better done by car. No dating has become attached to the building. Dress soberly, women bring a headscarf.
