The church carries a double name: Mosorni and the dedication to St. George. The first word belongs to a tract rather than to the dedication, and many mountain churches in Kakheti are named on that pattern.
The place belongs to Lapankuri, a village in the foothills above the Alazani valley. A namesake by dedication, the church of St. George of Lapankuri itself, stands about six kilometres away, so the coordinates are the safer guide. Closest of all is the Kopala shrine, some two kilometres off, and the Tornisi basilica of the Virgin five.
The approach is a mountain one, the road stony in places, and dry weather is the better choice. Churches of such a district are not opened every day, but the building can be seen from outside. Inside, dress modestly and keep voices low.
