The church is known as the Kalauri one, and no dedication is given for it: in the neighbourhood it is simply the village church. It stands on the boundary of the lands of Kalauri and Vachnadziani, where the two villages meet, and for that reason it is assigned now to one, now to the other.
The setting is flat, among fields, by a field track north of Gurjaani. A fairly dense cluster of sanctuaries lies around: a hundred and thirty metres away stands a church of Saint George, two hundred metres further the Saint George church in Gujiaurebi, and a kilometre off the Kalauri churches of the Archangels and Saint Nino. Such proximity is rare in Kakheti.
There are no regular services here and the church can be approached at any time. The distances between the neighbouring churches are short and all of them can be walked in one stroll. Field tracks turn to mud after rain, and it is then better to leave the car by the asphalt and walk the rest.
