A parish church of Saint George, the church of the lower half of the village. Like many villages of this belt, Chkepi has a lower and an upper part, and the division reads directly in the name.
Lower Chkepi lies north of Kutaisi, where the Imeretian plain begins to rise towards the Tkibuli ridge. The road climbs, and as it does the orchards give way to wooded slopes. The date of building is not established: the parish lives on while no written trace of it remains.
There are no regular services, so a Sunday morning is the surer time to come. After rain the road is better taken in a car with decent ground clearance. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf.
