Street Art and Murals

Street art in Tbilisi moved beyond back alleys long ago. The largest works cover the end walls of Varketili tower blocks: portraits of Anne Frank and of the nurse Maro Makashvili, two embracing women, and a bear, deer and wolves along a long concrete wall. Graffiti also covers the facade of Fabrika, a former sewing factory turned creative hub. The gallery adds Frida Kahlo in a hotel courtyard, a grandmother baking bread, a Georgian supra with men in chokha on a garage door, a woman with feathers in an underpass, a painted Zaporozhets with a qvevri on its roof and a cat above yellow scooters.
