The house museum is devoted to Ekvtime Takaishvili, the historian and archaeologist who guarded the treasures taken out of the country during his years in emigration and brought them back to Georgia. The house shows material on his scholarship, documents, photographs and objects connected with the family. For understanding how Georgian museum work took shape, this is one of the key stops on a route.
The house stands in Likhauri, a village in the Ozurgeti municipality, on the hills between Ozurgeti and Achi. Around it are orchards, tea plantations and local roads. The village is small, with a view over the plain.
The museum is open daily from eleven in the morning until six in the evening. Allow about an hour. A phone number and a social media page are listed, so the visit can be arranged in advance.
Tips
- Call ahead if you want a guided account
