Mount Gonio is home to one of the most picturesque observation decks in the Batumi region. From its top, where the Gonio Cross rises, you can see a stunning panorama of the city, mountain landscape and sea surface. Particularly impressive are sea sunsets, which paint the sky in bright colors.
For those who want to climb to the top, there are several options. You can book a taxi to take you to the top. However, if you want to save money and enjoy nature along the way, you can take bus number 16 from Batumi to the village of Gonio and then walk up. This will not only allow you to enjoy the walk, but also discover additional observation platforms overlooking Batumi. Just be careful on the road as there is no sidewalk. On the way down, don't be surprised by the friendliness of the locals, who may offer you a ride - a sign of their hospitality.
