Ilya Grigoryevich Chavchavadze is a man who fought for the independence of Georgia. He was a famous poet, publicist and public figure.
Now Georgians remember him as the “father" of the country. During the peasant reform, he worked to settle the difficult relations between peasants and landowners.
The monument to Ilya Chavchavadze in the city of Batumi was erected in 1982. The works written by Ilya have become famous not only in Georgia, but also in many other countries.
