This fortress is a crucial stronghold that once protected the main trading route from the south into Georgia. It's one of the few fortifications in the region that still stands today. The climb to the top is quite an adventure, but the effort is definitely rewarded. The views are breathtaking, and you can see the whole valley spread out below. We went there in late spring, and the vegetation was lush, with tall grass all around. We were a bit worried about snakes in the grass but had no issues. To reach the higher part of the citadel, you have to navigate some shaky-looking scaffolding, but it's manageable. The lower part of the fortress is easy to get to; you could even take kids there, though we didn't due to the heat. Overall, the experience and the views were thoroughly enjoyable!

Замечательная крепость на маршруте между Боржоми и Ахалцихе. Хорошо сохранилась и предлагает интересный опыт. Непредвиденно задержались и поднялись на самый верх. Для этого нужно быть в хорошей физической форме, так как подъем требует преодоления строительных лесов и досок.

The old stone steps lead you in, and a small courtyard invites you through to the other side. Restoration efforts are noticeable, but the absence of crowds allowed for peaceful exploration. Free entry adds to its irresistible charm. Time well spent.

An incredible fortress that reminded me of Rabati in many ways. The climb to the top was challenging and a bit risky, but worth it. I really enjoyed the stunning views and the unique layout of the inner castle.
