Queen Tamara Bridge in Zeda-Makhuntseti:
The Queen Tamara Bridge in Zeda-Makhuntseti is a unique historical place and one of the main attractions of Adjara. The architectural monument is about 900 years old and is still functioning. The ancient stone bridge has recently been strengthened with modern technology, while maintaining its authentic structure, which can be seen on site. Next to the bridge there is a plaque with historical information and parameters of the structure. The Adzharistskali River, flowing under the bridge, is characterized by its rapid flow and muddy water inherent in its natural characteristics.
There is a cozy gazebo on the territory where you can relax and enjoy the view of the Soviet hydroelectric power station, built in the 1930s. In addition, this place becomes a starting point for visiting the Makhuntseti waterfall, located nearby. You can get to the waterfall on foot along a serpentine road, covering a distance of 1-2 km, or use the paid services of jeeps or regular cars to get to the second waterfall, located 5 km from the first. There is a cafe next to the waterfall where you can try beer and Georgian cuisine.
For hiking enthusiasts, a 17-kilometer route leading from the Queen Tamara Bridge to Batumi is available. Detailed information about the route is presented on the sign at the minibus stop. During the tourist season, there are numerous stalls offering food and souvenirs for tourists.
