The Technical University metro station, located on the Saburtalinskaya line of the Tbilisi metro, was opened on September 15, 1979 as part of the launch section of the Sadguris Moedani-2 - Delisi line. Until 2011, the station was called "Polytecnicuri", corresponding to the previous name of the university.

This station is one of the first single-vault stations in the Tbilisi metro. It is located near the Georgian Technical University, as well as the Georgian Statistics Department, the Sports Palace and the Holiday Inn Tbilisi hotel. The station has two entrances: one faces Beijing Street, and the other faces Kostava Street.

Operating time:

Opening hours: Daily from 6:00 to 00:00.
Traffic interval: During rush hour - about 2 minutes; in the evening - about 10 minutes.

Payment system:

Tbilisi Metro offers a fare payment system through MetroMoney plastic cards, which is also applicable on city buses.

MetroMoney cards are available at all metro stations at counters with MS+ symbols.
Card cost: 2 GEL (refundable deposit).
Trip price: 50 tetri.
One card can be used by several passengers.
The cards are valid on cable cars, but not on the funicular.
Please note: MetroMoney cards are valid only in Tbilisi.

The station on the Saburtalo Line in Tbilisi’s metro is a convenient spot for students, commuters, and visitors. Located near the Georgian Technical University, it serves as a crucial link for the academic community and a bustling center for the nearby businesses. The design showcases Soviet-era architecture, typical for Tbilisi, and although it looks a bit old-fashioned, the station is clean and efficiently organized. Wide corridors and a large platform manage heavy crowds, particularly during peak hours.

Movement within the station is supported by escalators and stairways, but the absence of elevators can be a problem for those with limited mobility. Signage is easy to understand, but mostly in Georgian, which might be a challenge for those who cannot read the script. The station is well-placed, offering easy access to the university and several bus routes, making travel across Tbilisi straightforward. Improving lighting and maintenance could significantly enhance the travel experience.

Overall, this station is practical and well-situated in the Tbilisi Metro, effectively serving its users despite its somewhat outdated facilities. With some updates, it could become even more user-friendly and appealing.

Станция на линии Сабурталинского направления тбилисского метрополитена. Открыта 15 апреля 1979 года. Удобно расположенные входы на улицах Костава и Пекинской. С платформой соединена двумя туннелями с эскалаторами. Совсем рядом находятся Грузинский технический университет, Дворец спорта и гостиница "Аджара".
