Lake Lisi is a lake in the Tbilisi trench, northwest of the city, 615-730 meters above sea level. The territory of the lake is distinguished by the most interesting and diverse fauna in Tbilisi. It is a refuge for various types of waterfowl — mallards and other types of ducks, grey herons, small whales and grebes.
Among the birds of prey living on the lake are marsh harrier, lesser spotted eagle, common buzzard and cheglok. There are snakes in the vicinity of Lisi. Most of them are not poisonous and hide from people, but sometimes they can crawl out on rocks or a path to bask in the sun. There are also turtles, hares, foxes and many different birds.
The climate of the lake is warm, Mediterranean. The average annual precipitation is approximately 400 mm, the number of heavily rainy days per year does not exceed 30. The lake is covered with snow for 10-20 days.
The average water temperature varies from 0 degrees Celsius in January to 23 in July. The maximum recorded temperature is 37 °C. The lake is one of the most popular holiday destinations for lovers of water sports and fishing.
There is a developed infrastructure around the lake: walking and cycling paths, an open-type cafe-bar, children's entertainment and sports recreation areas. There are several facilities on the territory of the lake where you can rent a bicycle. There is a beach near the lake. There is a lot of space for picnics in the forest area around. There is a sulfur bath next to the lake.
Local authorities estimated the natural beauty of Lake Lisi for $ 182 million and sold it at auction to one of the largest companies in Georgia. The price includes not only the reservoir, but also all the local inhabitants.
