Betlemi Street is about 300 meters long and is a staircase, located in the old historical district of the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi.
It starts from Khlebnaya Square and goes to the east, where it stops at the ascent to the Narikala fortress. The street got its name from the Betlemi quarter (aka Kldisubani), which in turn is named after the Upper Bethany Temple.
In past eras, this street was called Petkhainskaya (from the name of the entire block), and in Soviet times it was named after the Baku commissar Meshadi Azizbekov.
The staircase-street leads from Asatiani Street to two temples — Upper Betlemi and Lower Betlemi. This ascent or street-staircase of Betlemi has exactly 120 steps. In the 90s, it was renamed Bethlemskaya.
By the end of the 90s, this street had become one of the most dilapidated in the Old City. The old Betlemi visually disappeared in 2012 — 2013. Now her new story begins.
If you decide to stay in a hotel on this street, then your choice is successful. You will live close to the central streets and the Maidan, and at the same time close to the fortress and temples higher up the slope. We can safely say that Betlemi Street is the most beautiful places in Georgia, gathered together to please the eyes of local residents and guests of Tbilisi
