The Sakalandarishvilo fortress is located northeast of the city of Senaki, on a high mountain near the Sakalandarishvilo district. This is a historical building of the 4th-6th centuries, closely associated with the Kalandarishvili/Kalandasquals, who moved from Guria to this area. The complex includes one tower and two walls surrounding it from different sides.
The main part of the fortress consists of an almost square tower (7.0x7.2 m) and two walls, preserved at a height of 4-5 meters. The east and south walls of the tower are divided down the middle, and some fragments indicate the presence of a door on the second floor. Currently, the first floor is littered with fallen stones, but research suggests that it was vaulted and had an entrance to one of the rooms.
Sakalandarishvilo Castle is an important historical artifact that may be of interest to researchers and lovers of ancient architecture. There are impassable and tall bushes around the fortress territory, and the fence is covered with dense vegetation, which complicates access to the site. However, visiting this place will give you a unique opportunity to plunge into the history of ancient architecture and feel the spirit of the past.
