Children's writer and publicist Yakov Gogebashvili is known in Georgia and Russia for his fundamental works in the field of scientific pedagogy. The scientist and public figure devoted his entire adult life to public education.
In 1841, the future teacher was born in the village of Variani of the Gori municipality, it was there that he worked on the improvement and prosperity of the literary and national Georgian language. The house-Museum named after him was founded in 1958, for many years the celebration of “Yakobob” has been celebrated in the village.
The museum's exhibition fund holds a rich collection of ethnographic exhibits, household items, tableware and furniture, documentary records, materials, photographs and personal belongings of Yakov Gogebashvili. It is also worth paying attention to the situation of the writer's office. The central element of the exhibition is the first editions of the Georgian alphabet “Grandfather Ena".
