The Museum of Local Lore, founded in 1926, is located in the regional center of Borjomi municipality, in the house of the governor, who managed the affairs of the region on behalf of the Russian Emperor Mikhail Romanov. The Gothic style is clearly visible in the appearance of the building, because the palace was built according to the plan of a German architect.
In total, the museum has four exhibition halls: ethnographic, local history, archaeological and an exposition of applied art of Georgia. A separate element of the exhibition is the model of the furnace of the glass factory, which Borjomi was famous for in the 1830s.
Special attention should be paid to the original samples of handmade bronze buckles, their high-quality copies are presented at foreign exhibitions in Europe and the USA. Among the exhibits are ancient coins, military weapons, jewelry of the III-II centuries BC and clay figurines of men.
