The Museum of Local Lore in the city of Dusheti was founded in 1949. Many of the exhibits presented in the museum today were discovered as a result of archaeological excavations on the territory of the Dusheti district.
Among them there are artifacts of the Bronze period and the Middle Ages: silver and bronze tools, military weapons, daggers and spearheads, clay and ceramic products, dishes, samples of fabric and clothing. The museum fund consists of rare ancient exhibits, they date back to the VIII century BC. The numismatic collection is rich in bronze, gold and copper coins.
The ethnographic exhibition contains personal belongings of folk poets and publicists Ilya Chavchavadze and Gabriel Jabushanuri. In the main hall of the museum you can see the monuments of cultural heritage, applied art and architecture of Dusheti.
