Samshvilde and Kldekari Museum-Reserve

The Samshvilde and Kldekari Museum-Reserve is a historical museum located in the municipality of Tsalka at the address: st. Aristotelya, 19, Tsalka. It was founded in 2015 and has the legal status of a legal entity of public law (LELP) under the National Agency for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage of Georgia, controlled by the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia. The Samshvilde and Kldekari Museum-Reserve specializes in historical topics and has more than 4,000 items in its collection. Among the exhibits you can find archaeological finds, samples of local life and ethnography, as well as photographs. The collection includes ancient megalithic complexes, Cyclops fortresses and “whales” - menhirs, dating back to the 2nd-1st millennium BC. Also on display are Bronze Age tomb fields, ancient processional roads to the tombs, a church at the bottom of the Tsalka reservoir, the 9th-century Kldekari fortress, the Cyclopean fortress of the village of Avranlo, as well as churches carved into the caves of the canyon rocks and other architectural monuments of medieval ecclesiastical and secular architecture. Open daily, except Monday, from 10:00 to 18:00. Admission is free for children under 6 years of age, employees of Georgian and foreign museums, ICOM members (with an ID card), people with disabilities (with a valid ID) and refugees.
