The Historical Museum in Rustavi, located on Odisharia Street, was established in 1950. Georgian scientist Georgy Lomtatidze, who participated in the archaeological excavations of Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, made a significant contribution to the formation and replenishment of the museum fund. It was he who organized the research work in the Gardaban region.
The main exhibition consists of antique exhibits: handmade jewelry made of gold and silver, tools of labor and hunting, clay vases, stone seals and coins, fabrics and clothing, tableware, battle spears, porcelain and figurines.
The second exposition draws the attention of museum visitors to the development of the city, its cultural and historical heritage. Documentary materials, samples of fine art, numismatic collection and ethnographic objects are collected here.
