The Museum of Local Lore is located in the building of the House of Culture. The exhibition fund is mainly represented by ancient artifacts that were discovered as a result of archaeological excavations in the Kakheti region. Ethnographic and numismatic exhibits date from various time frames: the Bronze and Iron Ages, the Ancient period and the Middle Ages.
The central exposition tells about the life and culture of the local peoples of Tusheti, one of the most interesting high-altitude areas in Eastern Georgia. The museum stores samples of fabric, ceremonial clothing, handmade bracelets, carpets and tools of labor and hunting.
The museum in the city of Akhmet cooperates with other municipalities and research organizations. A rich collection of ethnographic materials is periodically presented in the villages of Kvareltskali, Zemo Alvani, Magrani and Omalo.
