The Domed Church of Seraphim of Sarov is a cross-domed church built in the early 20th century in the village of Samreklo, Dedoplistskaro Municipality, Kakheti. This cultural monument is built in the style of traditional Russian architecture with a characteristic 16-meter-high dome. The building is constructed of polished limestone blocks and red brick.
Originally erected in 1902 with donations from Count Sechenov, the church was in a neglected state for a long time - the walls and dome collapsed. In 1988, the church was reconsecrated by order of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II, and with the support of the Bidzina Ivanishvili Foundation, a large-scale restoration has been underway since 2012 and today operates as an Orthodox church.
This is the second church in the world dedicated to Saint Seraphim of Sarov after his canonization. The church attracts both believers and tourists interested in the history and architecture of the region. The church is located 3 km from the center of the municipality, you can get there by car in 10 minutes.
