In the 1860s, the city commissioned a metal bridge from France, and it was completed in 1862. The metal railings were painted red, which led to its nickname, "Red Bridge." Officially, it was named "Mikhail's Bridge" after Viceroy Mikhail, son of Nikoloz Romanov. A popular legend suggests that the bridge was constructed in the same factory as the Eiffel Tower. Each spring, locals eagerly await the blossoming of the magnolia tree near the bridge, marking the arrival of spring in Kutaisi.

I believe this is one of Kutaisi’s hidden gems. Its location provides a stunning view of the ancient wooden houses by the river. Although these homes are in poor condition, I hope they'll be renovated soon. Another remarkable aspect is that it was built at Eiffel’s factory in France, and it was the first iron bridge in Transcaucasia. Note that the photos aren’t mine.
