An open-air spa session in Ureki

🧲 Magnetic sand - a natural SPA session in the open air

What is it and how does it "work"

The Black Coast of Ureki consists of sand saturated with the mineral magnetite. Its share fluctuates from 20% to almost 70% - a record for the Black Sea. This composition creates a weak natural magnetic field, comparable in intensity to low-frequency physiotherapy devices. Guests note a decrease in joint pain, improved blood circulation and a more restful sleep after "sand baths".

How to take sand baths correctly

    1. 🌞 Time — morning before 11:00 or evening after 16:00, when the sand is warm but not burning.
    2. 🏖️ Positions — lie on your back or “cover” the problem area (knees, lower back) with a layer of 2–3 cm.
    3. ⏲️ Duration — 15–20 minutes in a row; a course of 7–10 days enhances the effect.
    4. 🌊 Wash off the salt — rinse in the sea and drink a glass of water: the sand is easily accessible, but dehydrates.
    5. 🚸 Children — from three years old, but the sessions are shorter — 10 minutes.

    Who should be more careful?

    • 🤰 III trimester of pregnancy.
    • ❤️ Stage III hypertension, severe cardiovascular diseases.
    • ♨️ Acute inflammation, high temperature, oncology.

Tip: If you have any chronic illnesses, discuss sand therapy with your doctor in advance.

💬 "I buried my lower back for two days in a row on the advice of the locals - by the evening it was noticeably easier to walk without a cane! And the children played nearby, building “magnetic locks”

    Ureki beach

    🏖️ Beach + water activities

All beaches in Georgia are pebbly. But Ureki is sandy, here you can not only improve your health, but also build a sand castle, which plays an important role for us. After all, it is more pleasant to go into the water, stepping on a sandy bottom than a pebbly one. So the first entertainment is the beach.

The beach is a place where you can meet many interesting and good people. For example, recently a woman came up to us, heard that we were speaking Russian, and got acquainted with us. She has been living in Georgia for several years and really misses communicating in her native language. And in the end, we exchanged phone numbers and a lot of useful information.

    Service and prices

    • 🏖️ Sun lounger — 10 ₾ / day
    • 🌂 Umbrella — 10 ₾ / day
The prices have been the same for the second season and are indicated on the signs at the rental.

    Active recreation

    • 🏄‍♂️ SUP board — 30 ₾ / hour, sunset tour 45 ₾ (vests included)
    • 🚣‍♀️ Catamaran — 25 ₾ / hour (4 seats, sunshade) — rent at the Magnetiti pier
    • 🏐 Volleyball nets — free, courts are marked every 250 m
    • 🧸 Children's areas — inflatable trampoline (5 ₾ / 10 min) and a "sand town" with slides right on the shore
💬 "The sun loungers are inexpensive, the sand is warm, and the kids are delighted with the SUP - they stood on the board themselves for the first time! The main thing is to arrive before 11 am - there is enough space by the water for everyone"
    - Andrey, July 2025

    🍽️ Cafes and restaurants

Ureki may be small, but it will feed anyone, from a lover of street food to a gourmet looking for a cocktail with a sunset view.

    💰 Approximate budget

    • 🥟 Quick snack: cheese puff pastry, kutab or churchkhela — 5-10 ₾.
    • 🍛 Cozy family canteens: kharcho soup, a portion of khinkali, salad and a drink — 20-30 ₾ per person.
    • 🥂 Beach terraces with live music: seafood selection + glass of wine or cocktail — 40-60 ₾.

    🔎 What you must try

    • Adjarian khachapuri — served straight from the oven, the egg is stirred in front of you.
    • Shashlik (mtsvadi) from farm pork or chicken.
    • Mushroom khinkali or lobio in a clay pot are excellent vegetarian options.
    • For those with a sweet tooth — a delicate honey cake called medovik and homemade ice cream with blueberry sauce.

👛 Who is it suitable for?

    • Budget traveler: kiosks on the embankment and small family cafes - inexpensive and filling.
    • Family with children: many establishments offer mini-khachapuri, French fries, fresh juices; high chairs available.
    • Vegetarians: salads with nut dressing, eggplant with adjika, khachapuri with mushrooms.
    • Romantic couple: cocktail bar by the water, live jazz and a view of the orange sea.

⏰ Lifehack: come before 19:00 - you will have time to take a table on the terrace and watch the sunset, when the sea turns golden

💬 “After the beach we went to dinner: mushroom khinkali, a jug of homemade wine and a guitarist to the sound of the surf - a perfect evening!”
    - Maria, May 2025

    🌅 Walk along the embankment

The first thing you will see when you turn off the highway into the center of the village is a straight pedestrian alley about 1.5 km long. It starts at the main pier and stretches to a quiet pine-covered stretch of beach. You can walk there from any point in Ureki in 10-15 minutes; if you live further from the shore, take minibus #55 — the stop "Magnetiti" takes you right to the sea.

During the day, people leisurely ride along the bike path (rent a bike or electric scooter — 5 ₾/hour), and closer to evening, food trucks line up: matsoni with blueberries, grilled corn, lemonade with tarragon. Between them are rows of tents with amber beads and magnetic bracelets. Every Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 p.m., the light and music fountain is turned on: to Georgian melodies, the jets rise up to five meters and are illuminated with neon. The show lasts 12 minutes, is repeated twice, and it is better to come early to get a railing.
