The lighthouse is the oldest building on Batumi Boulevard and, to everyone's surprise, it is still fully functioning.
With the onset of the Russian-Turkish war, local residents erected a small wooden lighthouse to facilitate navigation for traveling warships. A few years later, the French masters completely rebuilt the structure and brought the lighthouse to the form in which it is to this day.
Many people wonder why it is located not in the sea, but on the embankment with attractions. The answer is quite simple, there used to be no coastal zone at this place, and then the lighthouse was located right at the foot of the sea, but then the place was filled in and thereby pushed the shore 100 meters away.
