One of the unique attractions of the Batumi embankment is a sculpture in the form of the inscription "Liberte". This work of art was created by the famous Georgian sculptor Gela Tsuladze and was located next to the Lech and Maria Kaczynski Park.
Unfortunately, on February 5, 2022, a powerful winter storm caused significant damage to this part of the embankment. Strong waves carried away sand and pebbles, eroding the coastline, damaging many infrastructure facilities, including lamps and part of the boardwalk. To prevent additional damage and preserve the sculpture "Liberte", it was decided to temporarily dismantle it. The author of the work himself, Gela Tsuladze, was present on the spot, monitoring the careful movement of his creation.
According to statements from the administration of Batumi Boulevard, as soon as restoration work on the promenade is completed and weather conditions improve, the sculpture will be returned to its original location. This incident highlights the value and importance of caring for the city's cultural sites and monuments in a changing natural environment.
