The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos is located in the very center of the city of Batumi. It was built at the end of the 19th century by a young man in memory of his deceased mother, who wanted to build a Catholic church in the city.
Italian builders and architects took part in the construction of the cathedral. During the Soviet years, the cathedral was under threat of destruction, but the defenders of the temple defended its right to exist. In the 1970s and 1980s, the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos was completely restored and transferred to the Orthodox Church.
It attracts attention with its deceptive Neo-Gothic architecture, only once inside, you can understand that the church is Orthodox.
